Once again, my colleagues from the Sister Colleges and I are visiting the Middle East to recruit students for Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, Smith and Wellesley. This time our trip begins in Jordan where we ended our visit in March/April 2008. We arrived in Amman, Jordan late Saturday afternoon-- it was an uneventful flight (except for my disappointment that Paul's plane to Chicago was canceled so we couldn't meet in the airport). Four of us arrived together, flying from the East Coast to Chicago then back to Amman--we look in reasonable shape, considering.
The cast of characters for this trip is the same as last, from left to right, Jenny Rickard, me, Jenn Desjarlais, Jennifer Fondiller, and Diane Anci. We've traveled together quite a bit over the years and are good traveling companions.
Our Amman school visits were spectacular last time around, so expectations area high for the next few days. Unfortunately, there's no down time, so no swim in the Dead Sea or visiting Petra on this trip.

Speaking of small worlds--I used to work with the woman who was just selected as the new president of Mt. Holyoke, Lynn Pasquarella. She's a very nice person, well-organized, efficient, and "wicked smaht" as we say here in RI. The only thing I don't know is how she is at fund-raising, b/c she didn't have to do that at URI. Enjoy your busy time in the Middle East, and I'll enjoy reading your blog postings! #Ally
