Day 1: A very busy day, especially considering the jet lag....

Sunday is the first day of the work week in Jordan and we made the most of it with a 14 hour work day: four school visits that included meeting with about 75 students, plus counselors, school heads and faculty, campus tours on aching feet, all followed by a delightful dinner with guidance colleagues from King's Academy.    You'll note that school buses look pretty much the same everywhere!

It's not just the school buses.  School promotional materials also have many common elements.  We did have time between school visits for a brief stop at the City Mall, which also had a very familiar feel.   It could have been the Holyoke Mall...

Another common experience--accept a cup of coffee (as my colleague Diane did here) and find that it is instant and overly sweetened!

All of our school visits were excellent, and we really enjoyed our conversations with students. Jordan is a lovely country and the people are exceptionally warm.

The hills are substantial as evidenced by the photos at left and below (which were taken at our lunch stop in the first circle or center city--the oldest part of town).
