what, me late?

November 2, 2009
(written November 4, 2009 ... late)
Amman, Jordan
Many people who know me well can verify that I am time challenged.  Here's the best excuse ever for being late, in this case to a school visit in the middle of an upscale neighborhood in Amman:

Fortunately, after we drove by, they looked back to reassure us that all was well (reminding me very much of the poster we did at Hampshire with the sheep looking out and the red "no" sign with the caption, "These are not our students").  And, truth be told, we made it to the school visit on time!

This was our last visit of the day, followed by a reception with alumnae--there were an impressive group of graduates from all of our places, the oldest a Smith alumna from the class of 1951, the youngest a group of students from the class of 2011 doing junior year abroad programs at the University of Jordan.  60 years apart, and the two Smithies had lived in the same house!  Interesting and lively conversation, though our group was feeling the full effect of jet lag by the end of two long work days.

Here's some artwork for the school we visited Tuesday morning before boarding the plane for Kuwait.
